whoop de doo
A long time since we've journaled. With the yahoogroup we've kind of been posting our updates there. We've also updated to osX and there is no native osx application to do posts without launching an internet browser. I wanted to let everyone know that I have been removing any posts with links attached to them from people that I don't recognize. A few people have ruined it for the rest of you, and you can go blame them. If I am able to, I will ban them (some of them are smart enouph to post anonomously.) Otherwise, if there is a link in the post, I wont even check it out, I'll just remove it. If your a fan of Little Tin Box you will know alternative methods of getting us links other then using our live journal. With that said, 'till next post. Little Tin Box January 7th
At the Fine Line Cafe! Details are on the website. With the baby around I have SO little time to actually write anything. Me and Kelly were just thinking however, at how wonderfull everyone has been to us in support of our new lives. We appreciate every single email and greeting card and schedualed visit and praise that we have been getting since our plunge into parent hood. I'm sure Kelly has more to say about it then I do, I hear the stories, but she's experiancing it first hand. While I'm rocking Hailey to sleep. Thank you so much for your hard support. Print yourself a ticket and come celebrate creation with us. Charles | | Monday, October 6th, 2003 | | 6:57 pm |
Just an update...
I just thought I'd put a baby update for those who MAY be interested. I don't get to talk to everyone as much as I used to, largely because much of my life revolves around making final baby preperations & sleeping with some eating inbetween. : ) LTB is formulating our "evil" plan for the new season. Ok, it's not really an evil plan, just a fin one. : ) Charles is writing more & more every day. Things are sounding good & the remix projects keep coming in. He's BUSY at work I tell ya'! On Friday, we went to the doctor for a routine prenatal visit &, (long story short) after measuring my "tummy" twice, it would appear that we are either having "KIDZILLA" or I am actually at the beginning of my 9th month, versus my 8th month as was previously thought. We may have an early baby. : ) We'll see what the next doctor's visit brings. Other than that, our lives have been busy. Planning, sketching, writing, preparing... It just never stops! | | Wednesday, September 17th, 2003 | | 7:17 pm |
Over the river...
I just want to say..."WISCONSIN ROCKS! YOU'RE THE BEST CROWD WE"VE EVER SEEN!!!" (insert Kelly making the "rock & roll symbol" over her head & squeeling out a riff on her air guitar...) Ok seriously. Our last show (Eau Claire, Wisconsin) did go great & the people there were AWESOME! Really, really friendly & excited about what we were doing. It was very nice. AND I would ABSOLUTELY play in Eau Claire again! If anyone is tuning in & heading to the Eau Claire area anytime soon, I HIGHLY recommend the "House of Rock". It's super cool & kind of resembles the 400 Bar (but with an in tact ceiling) combined with..."Cheers". It's pretty sweet & quaint. I believe the address is 422 Water Street. Gotta run. No time to sit & relax. Much to do, much to do... Kelly | | Tuesday, September 9th, 2003 | | 5:14 pm |
Suprise suprise!!!
Well, it's certainly been a while since I wrote anything. Since that last show, not much has really been happening. Charles has been writing lots, doing remix projects & developing his evil plan for 2004. Actually, we're mainly just relaxing & counting down the days until the baby is born. Though I'm enjoying it the pregnancy thing, it'll be nice to move on to that next phase of parenthood. Funny thing! We were beginning to talk about the start of the 2004 season & what we wanted to do to start it off with a bang, when we got a pretty big request to play in Eau Claire this weekend. We thought about it some & then decided to go for it. I know we said that the Red Sea gig was our last show, but this was an opportunity that needed to be acted on. Besides, we both miss performing. We just need to keep it to a minimum as the baby is now pushing up in to my rib cage & into my lungs. I just can't keep up right now. (Yes, my belly has grown QUITE large since everyone last saw me.) So, this will TRULY be the last show of the season. Hopefully we'll have some people who'll come out & see us "across the river". I know it's a bit of a haul, but eh...it's a Saturday night. Who knows. | | Friday, August 15th, 2003 | | 9:41 pm |
End of the summer season...
Well, it was a fun time doing our last two shows of the season. The crowds were good & the reception we got was MUCH appreciated. I will admit that I was a little nervous as to how I would be received with my pregnant belly in tow. I have a hard enough time getting taken seriously as it is. I just wasn't sure how the crowd would feel about a pregnant lady on stage. It was all good though! The baby is growing fast & I don't really recognize my body anymore. I haven't gained excessive, but my figure has changed enough that I don't look the same as I used to. Oh well. : ) I get LOTS of kicks these day. Some times you can actually see a fist/knee/foot shape doing the "tapping". It's pretty funny really. I'm trying to enjoy it & take it all in as much as possible as it will soon be over & we'll start a WHOLE new phase. BTW, pregnancy isn't as hard & aweful as a lot of women like to make it sound. You just have to REALLY listen to your body & know when to say "no" to excercise, late nights, etc. I will admit that the time has gone by fast & I can hardly believe that we are shutting down the shows until 2004. I'm going to miss performing & seeing all of the people I've met over the years. I'll just have to hold on to the knowledge that just as fast as this season has come to to close, it will start right back up. If there is anyone out there, thanks for your support over the last year. It's been an incredible encouragement to us & a much needed support. We will miss you over the winter months, & look anxiously forward to seeing you in the late winter/early spring when we come back for our 2004 show schedule. Ciao! 8/6
With just a couple of days away from two shows this weekend we've been practicing to compensate for kelly's newfound shortness of breath. The baby is pushing on her airways now and so these two shows will probably be the last for Little Tin Box untill 2 or 3 months after the baby is born. The shows are; Friday, August 8th at the Urban Wildlife Club : 128 North 4th Street Minneapolis Monday, August 11th at the red sea : 316 Cedar Ave S, Minneapolis Each show has it's own unique reason to go see it. On Friday we will be instituting a DJ inbetween sets, and there will be a Keg of beer available from 8-9 for those who show up early and chat with us. On Monday, I will meet for the very first time, JJ (who I've heard endless stories about, all I've chalked up to legend and folklore ;p). JJ was in a few electronica bands and I've been jokingly told that I was his replacement when he moved away. Well on Monday we're going to see just how talented JJ is, not that I'm competing with him (although a little electronica duel could be pretty fun.) I think it's just I mostly see myslef as my own man, and really can't find any similarity with what I heard of JJ's previous music and my own. Anyway I'll enjoy both events and will probably spin JJ's band "Eyes To Space" in the future. Charles | | Thursday, July 17th, 2003 | | 5:09 pm |
Just felt the need...
I swear. I think our world is going insane. I've never seen such a mass amount of psychotic behavior world wide as I've seen in the past week alone. Not that I'm THAT old. : ) I decided the other day that there ought to be little signs posted throughout our daily lived reminding us that we are not gods. Like " the more selfish we become the more stupid we become". Or " Was you mother a Mule? Then stop acting like an ASS." I just have to shake my head & keep saying that there isn't anything sooo important in life that you need to sacrifice others meaninglessly just so that you can be ahead. CONvergence. How cool...
Well, it has taken me a while to recover from last weekend & survive work this past week. I don't know, I just haven' been thrilled about sitting under flourescent lighting for 8.5 hours a day lately. Not sure why... : ) I had a blast at CONvergence. What a cool group of people! Our show went smoothly, thanks to the great coordinators & staff of the mainstage! And it is ALWAYS a thrill to see SAH! We got a really nice reception from the attendees & might I add that I was SURPRISED & quite happy to see some our long time LTB fans in the crowd. It definitely made me feel as though this is more of a community than random people that show up for some sci-fi/gaming stuffs. Cool! | | Monday, July 7th, 2003 | | 1:16 pm |
Recovery: complete
So I have fully recovered from the most wonderfull night last Friday, July 4th at CONvergence. The staff there did an EXCELLENT job at making me feel comfortable and ready for a "main stage" performance. I tell you what, I don't know when the next opprotunity will be for us to do a "main stage" appearence at a festival. However, the energy that is outputted during a show like that is just amazing. I could hardly believe it. It was so intense to be on stage that I was sore the rest of the weekend, and VERY tired. For those of you who have just become a member of the LTB fanlist. Welcome, I appreciate your interest and I hope to see you out in the crowds sometime. We're going to start playing out in the burbs now. Our next show will probably be at Santorini's. July 20th is Electro-Tank. Charles Current Mood: amusedCurrent Music: 5f_55: 4e75 4576 4f | | Sunday, June 15th, 2003 | | 2:11 pm |
Just stuff...
What an interesting week. I'm sure there are lots of people out there who get spammed TO DEATH, so I know there will be some sympathy here. I don't know why people feel the need to lift my e-mail addy off the LTB site & sign me up for kiddie porno. Well, that & "free stuff". We got rid of our home phone because of all the calls we were getting. Why would I want the same problem for my e-mail? (sigh) After MUCH frustration & about 1,000 e-mails, I ACTUALLY got some helpful advice from an ISP. They actually told/showed me how to hunt down the jerks that are spamming me & report them for SPAMMING & defemation of character to the ISP's they impersonate. Talk about GRATIFICATION!!! It's like blowing up the cars of all of those annoying telemarketers that cut in to your personal time. : ) I don't know about you, but it's nice to occasionally ruin some jerk's day. Other than that (which is GREAT news) Things are going well. Charles is still working away on some GREAT re-mix projects & writing new material for LTB & his side project, [spacebar], every day. He just DJ'd another party at Jesse's place, which he had a great time doing (as is ALWAYS the case). I miss being able to go & see everyone, but eh...What can ya' do when you crawl on your hands & knees (extreme exhaustion) to bed at 9:00 pm every night? Yes, I have in fact become a REAL party animal as of late! (insert laughter here) Well, not too much more to write home about. Our lives have settled down a bit, even though we have some big decisions here on the horizon. I've found an AMAZING amount of support from the women of the Goth/Darksider communities in regard to the "bun in the oven", which both Charles & I appreciate more than words will EVER describe. I realize that it kind of goes against the "code" of this subculture, but if the general populous could see the generosity of this crowd, they wouldn't make judgements like they do. Seriously. Ok. I'm outta here. Can't go on. Getting tired. ZzzzzzZZZzzzz.... Kelly | | Saturday, May 31st, 2003 | | 8:54 am |
Wow. We've had a lot of exciting developments pop up lately. Sometimes up to three things a day. Wait, dont' they say that things come in three's??? : ) I have a lot of people e-mail me or call & ask why we aren't going out to the various clubs anymore. I honestly miss seeing all of my friends & going out & stuffs. However, I do have a really good reason though. I'm pregnant. : ) I'm currently about 4 -4 1/2 months along & beginning to show. I've had such tremendous support from friends in the community thus far that is almost overwhelming, in a very GOOD, teary eyed sort of way. Due to this (pregnancy), I've had a lot of people ask me if we're are dissolving the group or quitting. NOPE! : ) I'm feeling well & the doctor's say that we should be able to keep performing up until late fall/early winter. Of course, at that point I will go on a Maternity leave for a while. But, in the Late winter (Feb), we'll pick right back up with performances & start planning our summer schedule. Other than that, Charles has been REALLY busy with remix projects, writing new music & planning out LTB shows & future Electro-Tank events. Speaking of Electro-Tank, Johnathan & Charles have some really cool plans on the table. Of course, I can't get in to them right now as I'd fill up more space than allowed. And besides, I'd end up ruining the surprise to all visiting guests. Well. I think that's all for now. My tummy is grumbling & the baby is fluttering around letting me know that it's time for breakfast. Besides, I can't really think of anything else right now. Big Break(s)
Well playing at the Loring on Friday is a big break for us, that's a hard spot for anything to get into much less electronica. A big 18+ to that one. Also, it looks like we'll be opening at convergance this year. In the mainstage no less! Whoo hoo! That's friggin awsome to me. This will be our first huge performance on a holiday weekend. Move over Astronaut Wife... We're taking this town over. (Convergence is on the 4th of July weekend. We open on opening night.)
